--On November 13, 2007, the Texas Department of Transportation made a public announcement of their Draft Environmental Impact Study for the Trans-Texas Corridor / I-69 (TTC/69) project being signed by the Federal Highway Administration, solidifying a move towards an ultimate goal of routing an Interstate Highway system to the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas.
--Hosted by the Rio Grande Valley Partnership, TxDOT Commissioner Hope Andrade and the Executive Director of TxDOT, Amadeo Saenz (the former Pharr District Engineer, immediately preceding the current Pharr District Engineer, Mario Jorge), announced plans to involve the Texas public in helping to decide the route that TTC/69 will ultimately take.
--Ron interviewed Commissioner Andrade, and her appointed Executive Director Amadeo Saenz, in the office of Bill Summers, President of the Rio Grande Valey Partnership and Vice-Chairman of the Alliance for I-69 Texas, concerning the Valley's desperate need for an Interstate Highway system to relieve commercial traffic congestion at the border and to speed up just-in-time delivery of parts and goods to the northern United States and Canada.
--In the final two segments of the program, footage of the TxDOT press conference is shown, along with a greatly extended fourth segment (which did not air on Channel 5) of other comments on the project...including the funding of the project by tolls!
